Help us bridge an essential 24/7 winter-only refuge into a year-round shelter & supportive services.
Started as a grassroots effort in 2010, the Hood River Shelter is initiating a capital campaign to secure a long-term location with supportive services located on site.
GROUNDED IN PARTNERSHIP
Integrated services & partners are already working together for housing recovery.
The Hood River Shelter has strong established partnerships with local government, law enforcement, faith groups, social and health care providers, local businesses, and community volunteers.

Everyone in our community is safer when the Hood River Shelter is open - year round operations will provide the support needed to bridge gaps and build true long-term housing stability.
The Missing Piece in The Puzzle:
A Place for the Hood River Shelter to Call Home
Since 2010, the Hood River Shelter has been a beacon of safety for our most vulnerable neighbors. Launched as a grassroots effort by local volunteers, the shelter has grown into an essential 24/7 winter-only refuge under the leadership of MCCAC.
However, housing insecurity doesn't end when the snow melts. In our region, homelessness has reached critical levels, driven by a systemic housing shortage, healthcare costs, and severe rent burdens.
Opening the Hood River Shelter year-round is the missing piece of the puzzle.
Capital Campaign Timeline 2026-2029
With operational funding successfully secured through Oregon's Statewide Shelter Program, MCCAC is planning to open the shelter year-round starting in the fall of 2026. To make this a reality, we are launching a two-phase capital campaign to secure a true long-term location.

Building a safe community means providing coordinated access to a wide range of care.
By redeveloping a permanent site into a mini-Navigation Center, we can integrate our community partners directly on-site to offer crucial physical, behavioral, and culturally specific health services.
A permanent, year-round facility will give our caseworkers the Consistent window they need to bridge the gaps in housing recovery and build true, long-term stability for our community.
What is a "Mini-Navigation Center at the Hood River Shelter"?
This permanent home will serve as a hub for community safety and harm reduction. By integrating services directly on-site, we are improving access to community-based treatment and support
